Miss Ireland 2012 – Official Jewellery Sponsor
Starlit Jewellery had a lot going on for them these past few months with Womans Way Live, Punchestown Festival, a stint on TV3′s Ireland Am but most recently with the Miss Ireland Pageant 2012. Owner Nadia Shah was happy to report that Starlit Jewellery would be sponsoring Miss Ireland 2012 becoming the official Jewellery partners of the show after taking on the event last minute.
“I’m delighted to be dressing the contestants and the judges for Miss Ireland 2012. Its a prestigious award, and once the winner hits the world stage in Starlit Jewellery, my efforts will be even more rewarding. I cannot wait.”
Getting ready for the event was tragedy in the making, but the results on stage were catwalk magic. Starlit Team members mentioned having many items not being returned after the show, and of course the mayhem backstage was the obviouse cause….yet everything was still all smiles from the Starlit Team, the Miss Ireland Contestants and from TV3′s new reality tv series Dublin Housewives, Ms Virginia Macari who also used the night to launch her new and fabulous swimwear line ‘Ms. V’ Bikini’s at the event. Below you can see Rebecca Maguire (Miss Ireland 2012) wearing Ms. V Bikini and stacks of Starlit Jewellery Bracelets from €20.
Virginia was also photographed wearing Starlit Jewellery on the night. She wore their Swarovski Earrings from an exclusive line, not featured on their website www.starlitjewellery.com costing €100 and a Fox Ring from their normal range that cost €45 that is for sale on the website.
As GREAT as the night went, there was a sense of shock that filled the room when the 2012 1st & 2nd Runners up were announced. Rebecca Maguire, who was hot to win this year came 2nd AGAIN to Miss Maire Hughes. It seemed Rebecca had been beaten to the punch once more as she lost out to Holly Carpenter in 2011. Tears followed…and so did the outpour of emotions and bitterness on twitter.
It didn’t end there. The Evening Herald and every other newspaper in the country today featured front page headlines revealing Maire Hughes, Miss Mayo had to be stripped of her crown. WHAT?? How awful and what a disgrace to the organisation. But a great read none the less and it created even more publicity for Miss Ireland! Exactly what it needed after its profile started to take a bit of a nose dive.
Papers were bursting with gossip on how Miss Mayo was too old to compete on the world stage. She had entered the competition stating that she was 21. It soon came to pass that she was infact 25, which renders her TOO OLD to be considered as a contestant on the International Stage. Age requirements prohibit girls to be over 24 when entering the competition. What a shame. Something smells fishy though don’t you think?
On the other hand reading the nasty comments and all the drama that surrounds this has been enjoyable. Rebecca Maguire, Miss Wright Venue is now the rightful owner of the crown as she claimed she was much prettier than the winner anyway after taking a huge blow to the ego coming 1st runner up on the night. Melaine Morris gave a rather interesting interview in the Herald today when she declared “As a judge I was shocked when Maire won”.
There are still rumours going around that they might yet ressemble the judges and judge the final 7 again adding a talent round which was excluded from the original contest and chose the most deserving winner. Wouldn’t that be a fun night to become a part of! But I have a feeling it wont amount to anything and settling the mind of the very shaken Rebecca after the whole ordeal would be much more worthwhile. She is after all a stunning girl, she answered the question round very well and looks the part. I think Ireland can be proud of their New Miss Ireland 2012 Rebecca.
Maire wore two Silver Wave Bracelets from Starlit Jewellery on the night €37.

Move over Maire….Its Rebecca Time!
Congratulations Rebecca…. lets hope this is the end of a huge mess and emotional roller coaster and the start of a new adventure and a wonderful ride to the world stage in China.
Keep loving Starlit <3
